What is a Japanese Straightener?
The Japanese Straightening System, also known as thermal reconditioning, is a permanent hair straightening treatment that transforms curly, wavy, or frizzy hair into sleek, pin-straight locks. The process involves applying a chemical solution that breaks down the bonds in the hair, followed by flat ironing and a neutralizer to “freeze” the new structure in place. The treatment lasts until the hair grows out, requiring touch-ups as new hair emerges.
What are the benefits?
You can look forward to having sleek, smooth, and flawlessly straight hair without relying on blow- drying or heat tools, ensuring that your hair stays frizz-free.
How long does this treatment last?
Japanese Straighteners chemically transform your hair strands and are a permanent treatment. Certified stylists have seen up to 6 months of longevitity. However, as new hair grows in from the roots, the new area will not hold the same effect as the previously treated area. When this occurs, you’ll need to schedule a touch-up for the regrowth area.
How long does this treatment take?
This treatment can take up to 4 hours to complete depending on the length and density of your hair.
Am I a good candidate?
Japanese Straighteners are ideal for those seeking a permanent pin-straight look for their hair. However, this treatment is not suitable for hair that has been bleached, highlighted or chemically treated.
Can I get have color done with the Japanese Straightener?
It’s advisable to wait at least two weeks after receiving Japanese straightening before coloring or dyeing your hair. Applying color right after the straightening process may harm your hair or result in inconsistent outcomes.
Do I need an At Home Regimen?
Establishing a home care routine WILL enhance the longevity of your Japanese Straightener. Using sulfate-free products is particularly beneficial for safeguarding your treatment. Sulfate- free products available at Jolie!
